International sensations Amy Porter (flute), Juan-Miguel Hernandez (viola), and João Luiz (guitar), together known as TRIO VIRADO, are taking the role of instrumental chamber music to new heights. Their innovative style has broken boundaries between different cultures and genres of music; from classical, Latin tangos, and 21st century premieres, to innovative scoring of familiar arrangements. TRIO VIRADO has no limits in their ability to perform live concerts and they are equally impressive teaching outreach shows to eager young students at schools and universities.
American flutist Amy Porter graduated from the acclaimed Juilliard School in New York and was a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra before becoming a sought-after and distinguished Professor of Flute at the University of Michigan. She has won international grand prizes in Japan and France, and has an impressive array of discography, video teaching study guides, and printed publications.
João Luiz, a member of the famed Brasil Guitar Duo, graduated from Mannes School of Music and Manhattan School of Music. He is the head of guitar and faculty at SUNY Purchase and on faculty at NJC University. Originally from Sao-Paolo, João has toured with Yo Yo Ma in Cuba with the Brasil Guitar Duo.
