The American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Music at Washington University in St. Louis invite you to a public program featuring two leaders from St. Louis’ classical music community. David Robertson, whose 13-year tenure as music director of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra culminated this past spring, will join St. Louis Public Radio’s Robert Peterson for a lively discussion focusing on classical music’s future directions. Their conversation will address issues including building new audiences for classical music, preparing the next generation of musicians, music’s role in the American cultural landscape, and what it means to be a conductor today.
